DIGITAL STORYTELLING IN EDUCATION
Digital storytelling is a new type of story telling using digital tools.Since we can use digital storytelling as a learning and teaching tool,we have learned to make a digital story in Instructional Tech. and Material Design Course.
Firstly,we were instructed about digital story telling,elements of digital storytelling,kinds of stories and learning power of DS.Also we have examined some examples to have an idea about digital stories.
Secondly,we were given three project options to create a digital storytelling and asked to work as groups in two.In this project,I have worked with E.Billur Hacıoğlu.We have chosen the option about creating a fictional story with drawings and audio.
-We have used Microsoft Photo Story as a tool.
-We have developed some fictional characters that are animals and prepared our drawings.
-We have written our script which homes young learners.
-We have added a narrative track and music which is switched in different points of the story such as climax to give the feeling to the audience.
Lasty,we have uploaded our digital story on Youtube.

In the future I would like to give such a task to my students.
Digital stories can be prepared by the teacher.The teacher can prepare a digital story to
-take the attention of the students
-make their schemata activate before teaching
-use a communication tool
-teach new words in a context
-create an authentic learning material
-encourage them to listen and speak
-help students retain knowledge longer
Digital stories can be prepared by the students.The students can prepare digital stories which are very useful in language learning in these ways:
-It increases their enthusiasm for learning language.
-It increases their enthusiasm for making research.
-The students use their creativity and critical thinking skills.
-The students collaborate if it is done in pair or group work.
-When they give a voice,it is a reflection for them.
-They tend to use technological tools.
-They enjoy producing something so it makes them confident.
