MY PODCAST EXPERİENCE and PODCAST EFFECT İN THE CLASSROOMS
Hello there!
This week,my assignment is to create a podcast in which to come up with an inspiring idea to make the world a better world to live in and tell about it in 60 seconds. It is obvious that it will be a different and exciting experience(or assignment) comparing to other assignments.First of all, I referred to the link in which you can find inspiring, controversial idea from a global thinker from the world of philosophy, science, pyschology and arts. Some of the podcasts have fantastic ideas, some of them have possible ideas to realize however all of them are imaginary.
As for my idea, some news which I have heard about recently has affected me.It was about a 16 -year- old Swedish environment activist Greta Thunberg.Experts say that if we do nothing to halt climate change it will be the cause of wars, conflict and refugees and Greta has launched a massive movement against global warming. She encourages the students to skip the school and protest for a greener world. They demontrate against climate change and government inaction.
Here is my podcast idea that is inspired by Greta!
After this experience,I have a question to answer:
Would I use podcasting with my students in the future?

- I can use podcast as a source of listening material.Podcasts are authentic material so podcasts around the world especially from the countries in which English is spoken as main language might give a local flavour to the students and make them acquainted to the culture.
- Some podcasts are informative so while improving their listening skill, students can learn new things.
- As the podcasts are mobile, students can maintain learning out of the classroom.
- The podcast which contain interesting topic might be enjoyable for students. Also they can choose their podcast topic in which they are interested.Meanwhile,it leads to student-centered learning.
- Using technology such as podcast in adult classroom might give different perspective to the students in language learning.
- Students can invite their family and friends to listen to their podcasts thus families can follow student's progress in language learning.
- Creating a podcast can be really motivating although it takes up a lot time including preparing part.I think students will benefit from podcasts effectively in language learning.
Are you ready for a podcast experience? You can start choosing one of them.Enjoy yourself!!!
